The goals of the series are to honour these people the way their loved ones remember them, to shine a light on the impactful work being done in community to create change, and to help solve these cases.

Tina Fontaine
Tina Fontaine was a 15-year-old girl whose body was pulled from the Red River in Winnipeg in August, 2014, sparking international attention, and shining a spotlight on the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.

Emily Osmond
Emily Osmond was 78 years old when she was last seen on her property on the outskirts of Kawacatoose First Nation, Saskatchewan, in September, 2007. Emily’s beloved dogs were abandoned, and she told no-one she was leaving.

Amber Guiboche
In the late summer of 2010, 20-year-old Amber Guiboche was seen getting into a burgundy truck with a lone male occupant in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and was never seen again. Amber’s abduction drives her family to support other families of MMIWG.

Fonassa Bruyere
17-year-old Fonassa Bruyere’s family got the sense from her that she might be in danger. When this exploited child went missing from the corner of Selkirk Avenue and Charles Street in Winnipeg, her family never saw her alive again.

Sandra Johnson
Sandra Johnson was a pow wow princess from a loving family on the Seine River First Nation. In Thunder Bay, Ontario on February 13, 1992, 18-year-old Sandra Johnson’s body was found murdered. So far, the case has sparked many theories but no justice.

Tanya Brooks
On Mother’s Day, May 10, 2009, 36-year-old mother of five Tanya Brooks had her final phone conversations with her family. She was seen later that evening walking on Gottingen Street in north Halifax before being found in a school window well the next day.

Cheyenne Fox
On April 25th, 2013, the lifeless body of 20-year-old Cheyenne Fox, was found at the bottom of a Toronto high-rise. Earlier on that date, multiple calls were made to 911 from a condo where Cheyenne was last seen alive. When police arrived, it was too late.

Glenda Morrisseau
19-year-old Glenda Morrisseau went out with family on July 17, 1991. When they arrived home, Glenda’s sister turned around to unlock the door and turned back to see a car quickly drive off with Glenda. Glenda was found murdered on August 7, 1991.

Mildred Flett
Mildred Flett was loved by her family, daughters, and friends. On the night of June 4, 2010, Mildred was seen getting into a brown car with her ex-boyfriend in Winnipeg, and was never heard from again.

Angela Meyer
Angela Meyer struggled with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. On November 27, 2010, Angela was at home visiting her family on a weekend pass from the local hospital when she disappeared from the front steps of her parents’ home.

Danita BigEagle
It has been over a decade since Danita Big Eagle, age 22, went missing from Regina, Saskatchewan, leaving two children without a mother. Danita’s mother Dianne says she last saw her daughter on February 11, 2007.

Tamara Chipman. Belinda Williams
22-year-old Tamara Lynn Chipman was last seen near Prince Rupert on September 21, 2005. Belinda Williams was seen for the last time in British Columbia in 1977. Some powerful MMIWG advocates in British Columbia are driving change across the country.

Amber Tuccaro
20-year-old Amber Tuccaro travelled from Fort McMurray to Nisku, Alberta, planning to head to Edmonton the next day, August 18, 2010. She was picked up while hitchhiking into the city. Her remains were found in 2012.

Crystal Andrews. Leah Anderson
23-year-old Crystal Andrews, from God’s Lake, Manitoba, a fly-in community, went to a social on November 7, 2015. Her body was found on November 9, 2015. On January 6, 2013, 15-year-old Leah Anderson’s body was found, also under suspicious circumstances.

Janet Sylvestre
On October 13, 1994, the body of 38-year-old Janet Sylvestre was discovered in a wooded area, just outside of Saskatoon. Janet was from the Dene Nation and grew up in northern Saskatchewan. Before she was murdered, Janet was last seen in Saskatoon.

Lorilee Mae Francis
Lorilee Mae Francis was 23 or 24 the last time she was known to be seen or heard from by loved ones on October 20, 2007. She was last known to be in Grande Prairie, Alberta. When she didn’t contact her family during Christmas, they reported her missing.

Sindy Ruperthouse
The last time 44-year-old Sindy Ruperthouse was last seen was in Val D’or, Quebec, at a hospital, on April 23, 2014. She had been beaten up and had multiple broken ribs. The mishandling of Sindy’s case has been spotlighted in the media.

Cheryl Johnson
When 23-year-old Cheryl Johnson’s family learned that she was found drowned in Sydney Harbour in May 2001, they were in shock. Cheryl was a strong swimmer. Cheryl’s case was closed by law enforcement after only two days of investigating.

Caitlin Potts
The day before her disappearance, 27-year-old Caitlin Potts was last seen at Orchard Park Mall in Kelowna, British Columbia. On March 1, 2016, a missing person report was made to the RCMP. Caitlin’s disappearance is being treated as a homicide.

Colten Pratt
Colten Pratt, 26-years-old, moved from his community of Long Plain First Nation to Winnipeg. He was last seen on November 6, 2014 at the Marlborough Hotel, then at a bus shelter on Main Street and Redwood Avenue in Winnipeg.

April Carpenter
April Carpenter was last seen April 26, 2018 at the Health Sciences Center, a hospital in central Winnipeg. Her body was pulled from the Red River on May 16, 2018. April’s mother wants everyone to know that April did not put herself in the river.

Sunshine Wood
Sunshine Wood travelled to Winnipeg from her home community of God’s River, Manitoba to attend high school. The last time she was seen was February 20, 2004, outside downtown Winnipeg’s St. Regis Hotel.

Sylvia Guiboche
The mother of a one-year-old girl and pregnant at the time of her disappearance, Sylvia may have been in an abusive relationship when she moved to Winnipeg. Five months later she disappeared. Sylvia has not been heard from since July 2003.

Diana Rattlesnake
On October 28, 2004, at the age of 48, Diana Rattlesnake (formerly Wilma Hanska) was found deceased in a Brandon, Manitoba rooming house. She had started a new life after a tumultuous period, but abusive relationships plagued her.

Marilyn Munroe
Marilyn Munroe lived at an address police say appears to be connected to methamphetamine use and sales. Marilyn’s family honours her life with vigils as law enforcement continues to investigate her death.

In 2009, 17-year-old Cherisse Houle’s body was found near Sturgeon Creek, in rural Manitoba. Cherisse was a teenager whose life was plagued by sexual exploitation. She was a mother herself, trying to better her life.

Claudette Osborne-Tyo was 21-years-old when she was last seen in Winnipeg in 2008. The mother of four children, Claudette's family loves her very much, and have become some of the most powerful advocates and leaders in the support of MMIWG.

Tanya Nepinak
Tanya Nepinak’s disappearance and presumed murder is one of many in a long series of unsolved violent deaths in her family. A convicted killer’s confession failed to solve Tanya's case, and a search of a Winnipeg landfill found no answers.

Maniwaki and Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg First Nation in Quebec are neighbouring communities. It was from there in 2008 that best friends Maisy Odjick and Shannon Alexander vanished without a single clue.

As the Government of Canada launches its National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, Taken shares the story of Hillary Wilson, who came from Norway House Cree Nation, and was murdered in Winnipeg in August 2009.

Gladys Simon
Gladys Simon, of Elsipogtog First Nation, was a 41-year-old patient at Restigouche Hospital in Campbellton, New Brunswick when she went for a walk on June 24th, 2004 in Sugarloaf Park. Eight years later, her remains were found at a remote location in the park.

Kelly Morrisseau
On the night of December 9, 2006, Kelly Morrisseau, seven months pregnant, left a location in the Vanier Sector of Ottawa with an unknown male. She was found hours later with severe bodily trauma in a park in Gatineau, Quebec, and did not survive.

Delaine Copenace
Delaine Copenace of Kenora, Ontario went on a fun trip to the mall on February 28, 2016, with her sister. Delaine and her sister were separated and Delaine went missing. Tragically, Delaine’s body was found in Lake of the Woods on March 22, 2016.

Jacqueline Crazybull
On July 11, 2007, 44-year-old Jacqueline Crazybull was stabbed by a group of men in a random attack. That same night four other men and women were stabbed by the same group in separate incidents. They recovered from their injuries. Jackie did not.

Patricia Carpenter
Patricia (Trish) Carpenter, a 14-year-old mother of a two-month-old boy, was found dead at a Toronto construction site on Sept. 25, 1992. The case was quickly wrapped up, but the coroner eventually deemed it necessary to have an inquest into Patricia’s death.

Leona Brule
In March 1989, Leona Brule was 18 when she went to visit her boyfriend in Edmonton from Fort Providence, NWT, where she had been working . RCMP suspects that Leona was living on the streets in Edmonton, but she has never been found.

Josephine Martin from Moose Lake, Manitoba, went missing from The Pas, Manitoba, on November 15, 2015. Josie was last seen outside Giant Tiger – a place where she and her friends loved to gather. She was beloved by her family and community.

Amanda Cook
14-year-old Amanda Cook went with her dad and brothers to the Rossburn Fair Festival on July 13, 1996, near her home in Waywayseecappo. Four days later, Amanda’s lifeless body was found, beaten to death.

On April 1, 2009, 16-year-old Nicole Daniels was found frozen to death behind a rental car agency in Winnipeg. Nicole’s family remembers her getting into a vehicle with an older man who they suspect Nicole met in a phone chat room.

Elizabeth Dorion
On September 17, 1999, 44-year-old Elizabeth Dorion arrived at Mile 94, a commercial fish camp, where she stayed almost four days with friends. Two ground searches were conducted by the RCMP, but Elizabeth was never found.

The Jack Family
In August 1989, 26-year-old couple Doreen and Ronald Jack received a job offer from an unknown man in a pub in Prince George, British Columbia. They packed up their children, 9-year-old Russell and 4-year-old Ryan…and none were ever seen again.

Annie Pootoogook
Annie Pootogook was a renowned Inuit artist from Cape Dorset, Nunavut whose body was found in the Rideau River near Bordeleau Park in Ottawa on September 19, 2016. Annie’s death was treated as suspicious.

William Wapoose
In September 2014, William Wapoose was found dead in Chapples Park, on the south end of Chapples Drive, discovered by a cyclist. Police immediately confirmed that the father of two daughters’ death was a homicide and that he was the victim of foul play.

Elaine Alook
Elaine Frieda Alook, 35, was last seen on May 11, 2004 on Tower Road outside of Fort McMurray, Alberta. More than twenty years after she went missing, RCMP, family, and friends are still searching for her.

Cody Ridge Wolfe
Cody Ridge Wolfe, 17, from the Muskowekwan First Nation in Saskatchewan, was last seen at his grandmother’s residence in Lestock, Saskatchewan, on April 29, 2011, at 10:30 p.m. After Cody's episode of Taken aired, his remains were found in 2020.

Greg Dawson
On April 6, 2017, RCMP in Whitehorse received a call of a sudden death. They attended the scene and found the body of 45-year-old Greg Dawson. Greg’s death was investigated as a homicide, and his case was solved after his episode of Taken aired.

The Final Episode
